Description
DOW FILMTEC RO Membrane
DOW FILMTEC RO Membrane are high-performance, thin-film composite membranes used for water purification and desalination applications. They are manufactured by Dow Chemical Company using advanced membrane technology to provide reliable and consistent water treatment solutions.
These membranes are commonly used in reverse osmosis systems for water purification, removing impurities and contaminants from water to produce high-quality drinking water. They are also used in desalination plants to recycle seawater into fresh water for human consumption and irrigation.
DOW FILMTEC™ membranes are highly efficient and have a long lifespan, making them a cost-effective solution for water treatment. They are generally in different sizes and configurations to meet the requirements of multiple applications, from small residential systems to large industrial installations.
Features:
DOW FILMTEC™ membranes used in home drinking water treatment units for reverse osmosis (RO) are known for their exceptional reliability and consistency. They are among the most dependable elements in the industry.
Dow can manufacture each element of the DOW FILMTEC™ membranes with high precision to meet tight, pre-defined specifications, thanks to advanced membrane technology and automated fabrication.
Dow’s progressive and consistent RO element quality helps customers develop and maintain brand recognition and a reputation for building systems that reliably supply low-impurity drinking water.
DOW FILMTEC™ elements are delivered in a dry state, which makes them easy to handle and ensures a prolonged shelf-life. Dow’s next-generation elements are a fully compatible replacement for existing DOW FILMTEC™ residential RO elements.

- The permeate flow and salt rejection of DOW FILMTEC™ membranes are determined under the following test conditions: 250 ppm softened tap water, a temperature of 77°F (25°C), 15% recovery, and the applied pressure specified for the test.
- The minimum salt rejection is 96.0%.
- Notably, the permeate flows for each DOW FILMTEC™ membrane element may vary by up to 20% in either direction.

Operating Limits
a. If the pH level is above 10, the DOW FILMTEC™ membranes can operate continuously at a maximum temperature of 95°F (35°C).
b. Free chlorine and other oxidizing agents will cause premature membrane failure under certain conditions. It is essential to note that damage from oxidation is not covered under warranty. Dow recommends removing residual free chlorine by pre-treatment before membrane exposure. For further details and information, please consult technical bulletin 609-22010.

The effect of temperature and pressure on permeate flow in TW30-1812 membranes.
Important Information:
- Systems using these elements are recommended to rinse them for 24 hours before first use to meet NSF/ANSI 58 Standards.
- The initial permeate from the first complete tank should be disposed of and not used for drinking water or food preparation.
- Make sure to keep the elements constantly moist after the initial wetting.
- To avoid the growth of biological organisms during extended system shutdowns, submerging the membrane elements in a preservative solution is advised. Before usage, flush out the preservative solution.
- In the short term, the membrane resists chlorine (hypochlorite). However, prolonged exposure may harm the membrane and should be prevented.
- Contact Dow for details about their non-transferable, three-year prorated limited warranty (609-35010-1006), which could cover the DOW FILMTEC™ Home Drinking Water Reverse Osmosis Elements for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
The Limited Warranty will evolve null and void if the operating limits and guidelines outlined in this Product Information Bulletin are not strictly adhered to. The OEM is held entirely responsible for any impact that incompatible chemicals and lubricants may have on the elements. Using such chemicals or oils will make the Limited warranty void.
